The Joy of Index Cards

Organizing Your Life—One Card at a Time

My name is Kelly, and I'm an index card junkie.

There! I said it, and I don't feel ashamed at all! In fact, I feel organized. I've become a bit infamous among my friends as "the index card lady." No matter what they need to organize, chances are I can offer suggestions that include the use of those 3x5 pieces of card stock.

Index cards can be used for a variety of things, yet they are small and compact enough to fit in your purse or pocket. At less than $3 for a pack of 500, they're relatively inexpensive and can be bought in bulk at many office supply stores. They come in lined and unlined varieties; in white or various colors; and in differing sizes like 3x5, 4x6 and 5x8 inches. There's a style for all your needs.

Not sure what you need them for? Here are a few ideas to get your started on the road to being organized. (Each "box" will take you to a page where you can learn more.)

There are many more ways to use index cards around the home, depending on your lifestyle. Be creative—and remember to stock up during back-to-school sales!
